Wrestling..........

Patrick wins 2 of his first 3 matches in his first year of wrestling. I'm so proud of him!

I look at the pictures of Patrick wrestling and I start to think about the wrestling we all do spiritually.

How many matches do we win? And how do we feel when we lose? What happens to us when we lose? But my biggest question is ... are we wrestling the right one?

How many of us really spend our time wrestling Satan instead of God? When we wrestle Satan... what do we get out of it? Does he solve our problems... does he show us where we went wrong and how to make it right? Does he help us see things in the right light? Does he calm our fears... dry our tears? Does he show us love?

So .... then........... why do we wrestle Satan? Do we believe we can beat him? Do we think spending our time wrestling him will stop him from coming at us?
When we wrestle Satan... he's holding on tight and keeping us away from God.
So why in the world would we waste our time with him?

I would much rather be wrestling with God. Being shown love... being taught right from wrong ... held tight and protected against Satan. God will show us mercy and grace! He will calm our fears... dry our tears.... lead us into the greatest life full of blessings with the end being eternal life with Him.

God wants us to come to Him... if we have something we are struggling with ... we need to go to God... talk to Him... ask Him... wrestle with Him if necessary!
God loves.... God forgives... and God Saves!

Prayer........

"Dear Jesus, I place my hope and trust in you. I pray you will now strengthen me as you have promised, that I may stand against the enemy (Satan) and his forces of evil. Thank you for renewing my strength, enabling me to soar on wings like the eagles, to run and not grow weary, to walk and not be faint. Lord please be my strength today in keeping my thoughts and eyes on you. Make the heaviness in my heart for ones I love be eased knowing you are in control and will tend to all! In Jesus Name ~Amen"

Prayers for children..........

Dear Lord, you have witnessed the rebelliousness of youth since the very beginnings of time. You understand a parent's anguish and helplessness over the actions of their child. Please help us to transform our anger and frustration into loving care for any of our children who have gone astray. Help us begin to mend our broken fences and heal our broken hearts. Bless our children and also help them to mend the error of their ways. Help and bless us all to do right in Your name and restore us to peace and tranquility.
In Jesus name ~Amen~

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentines! Who can resist them? Coming home from a day of errands on a February afternoon, I always am cheered to find a red or pink envelope tucked inside my mailbox. Somebody loves me!

Well, of course! I know that! But sometimes I forget, and a Valentine helps me remember. I cherish these Valentines my family and friends send me. What about the ones God sends?

Wait a minute, you might be thinking, what do you mean? God sends Valentines? Why not! Valentines are messages of love, aren't they? And lovers send Valentines to their beloved. God is the greatest Lover of them all, and each one of us is His beloved. So why wouldn't God send us Valentines, not just on Valentine's Day but all year long!

But how does God send us Valentines? Lots of ways! One is through the sacred Scriptures, the holy Word of the Lord, so full of examples of God's goodness and mercy, love and compassion. What Scriptural Valentines have you collected and treasured over the years? Here are some of my favorites.

With age-old love I have loved you; so I have kept my mercy toward you. Jeremiah 31:3

His banner over me is love. Song of Solomon 2:4

The Lord your God is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will renew you in His love as on a day of festival. Zephaniah 3:17

I have called you by name: you are mine....I will be with you.... Because you are precious in my eyes and glorious, and because I love you. Isaiah 43:1, 2, 4

Though the mountains leave their place and the hills be shaken, my love will never leave you nor my covenant of peace be shaken, says the Lord, who has mercy on you. Isaiah 54:10

O Lord, how precious is your love. My God, the children of the earth find refuge in the shelter of your wings. Psalm 36:8

Your merciful love and your truth will always guard me. Psalm 40:12

The favors of the Lord are not exhausted, his mercies are not spent; they are renewed each morning, so great is his faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

I led them with cords of compassion, with the bands of love.... Hosea 11:4

But I have trusted in Your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me. Psalm 13:5-6

I love you, O Lord, my strength, O Lord, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer. My God; my rock of refuge, my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold! Psalm 18:1-3

The Lord came to my support. He set me free in the open, and rescued me, because He loves me. Psalm 19:20

I will trust in the Lord. I will rejoice and be glad for Your steadfast love.... Psalm 31:6-7

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. Psalm 52:8

God will send forth His steadfast love and his faithfulness! Psalm 57:3

For Your love is better than life; my lips will praise You. Psalm 63:3

But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15

Praise the Lord! O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures for ever! Psalm 106:1

For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. John 14:31

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:12-13

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Live on in my love. John 15:19

Come to me, all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you. Matthew 12:28

The love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:5

My dear friends, let us love one another, since love is from God and everyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7

May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fulness of God. Ephesians 3:17-10

Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:1-2

Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it so much as entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love Him. 1 Corinthians 2:9

The love of Christ impels us. 2 Corinthians 5:14

I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you...for God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:6-7

Although you have never seen Him, you love Him, and without seeing you now believe in Him, and rejoice with inexpressible joy touched with glory because you are achieving faith's goal, your salvation. 1 Peter 1:8-9

See what love the Father has bestowed on us in letting us be called children of God! Yet that is what we are. 1 John 3:1

We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16-17

We, for our part, love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19

The Lord disciplines him whom He loves, and chastises every son whom He receives. Hebrews 12:6

1 Corinthians 13 -- Every line of St. Paul's glorious hymn on the "Excellence of the Gift of Love" is a Valentine from God and worthy of deep reflection and prolonged contemplation for "there is no limit to love's forbearance, to its trust, its hope, its power to endure. Love never fails." (vs.7-8)

The Word became flesh, and made His dwelling among us, and we have seen His glory; the glory of an only Son coming from the Father, filled with enduring love. John 1:14

Of His fullness we have all had a share -- love following upon love. John 1:16

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?....No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else is all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35, 37-39

How dearly God loves us! How much He yearns to fill our hearts to overflowing with His enduring, abiding love! What special Scriptural Valentine is He sending you and you alone as a sign of His love for you? Whatever it is, may you receive it with renewed gratitude and rejoice greatly in the wondrous love of our gracious God!

The 2010 Crochet Games of Ancient Greece

I've joined the Games again! :)
This year I'm challenging myself to make a sweater of my own original design and make a Lumberjack Flannel'ghan. I'm excited and nervous at the same time........ I sure hope I can pull this off!!!

Over at Crochetville............. the Games are about to begin.

Eligibility: The 2010 Crochet Games of Ancient Greece are open to all crocheters around the world who wish to celebrate the spirit of the ancient Greek games by challenging themselves and their crochet abilities.
The Game: Begin and complete the crochet project of your choice in the time between the beginning of the opening ceremonies (February 12, 2010) and the extinguishing of the flame at the closing ceremonies (February 28, 2010) of the 2008 Vancouver Olympics. Times will be posted later when they're available.
Rules: 1. Select a project that will be a challenge for you to complete during the 16 days from the beginning to the end of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.
2. The definition of "challenge" will be left up to each individual competitor. As the real ancient Greek games featured many different sports, you may select your challenge from a number of different categories. You may accept the challenge of learning a new technique. You may accept the challenge of completing a time-intensive project in this limited amount of time. If you're a brand-new crocheter, any project may be a challenge for you to accept. From newbies to experienced crocheters, select a project that is a challenge for you.
3. The 2010 Crochet Games of Ancient Greece are designed to be fun. Select a project that will be a stretch to complete, not impossible. The goal should be to select a project that is possible to complete, but only with a good deal of dedicated effort and a little bit of sacrifice.
4. You may not start your actual project until the beginning of the opening ceremonies (February 12, 2010).
5. You may work on your project any time you wish between the beginning of the opening ceremonies and the time the flame is extinguished.
6. The goal is to complete your project before the flame is extinguished during the final ceremonies.

I am a Christian!

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I’m not shouting, “I’ve been saved!”
I’m whispering, “I get lost! That’s why I chose this way”

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I don’t speak with human pride
I’m confessing that I stumble-needing God to be my guide

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I’m not trying to be strong
I’m professing that I’m weak and pray for strength to carry on

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I’m not bragging of success
I’m admitting that I’ve failed and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I don’t think I know it all
I submit to my confusion asking humbly to be taught

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I’m not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are far too visible but God believes I’m worth it

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartache which is why I seek His name

When I say, “I am a Christian,” I do not wish to judge
I have no authority–I only know I’m loved

Show & Share.....

Just wanted to show off a couple projects of mine! :)

This is a little Sunflower purse I made for David to give to a friend of his for her birthday this last weekend. David needed a last minute gift for a little girl from school... to take to her birthday party on Saturday.
So... very early Saturday morning ... I dug through my stash and came up with this little Sunflower purse. Couple hours later........ this is what I had made! The back is all green with scalloped leaves around the edges... and a green handle. The front done with a brown circle center with double rows of chained loops for the petals of the sunflower.
I'm actually pretty proud of this little creation.........and David was one happy boy to have a gift for his friend!

This is my "Hip to be Square" afghan ... FINISHED! yay!!! I like it! It was fun to do too!

have a wonderful Wednesday everyone.
thanks for stopping by.

57 cents.......

A little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it was 'too crowded.'
'I can't go to Sunday School,' she sobbed to the pastor as he walked by.
Seeing her shabby, unkempt appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found a place for her in the Sunday school class. The child was so happy that they found room for her, and she went to bed that night thinking of the children who have no place to worship Jesus.
Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of the poor tenement buildings. Her parents called for the kindhearted pastor who had befriended their daughter to handle the final arrangements.
As her poor little body was being moved, a worn and crumpled red purse was found which seemed to have been rummaged from some trash dump.
Inside was found 57 cents and a note, scribbled in childish handwriting, which read: 'This is to help build the little church bigger so more children can go to Sunday School.'
For two years she had saved for this offering of love.
When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knew instantly what he would do. Carrying this note and the cracked, red pocketbook to the pulpit, he told the story of her unselfish love and devotion.
He challenged his deacons to get busy and raise enough money for the larger building.
But the story does not end there...
A newspaper learned of the story and published It It was read by a wealthy realtor who offered them a parcel of land worth many thousands.
When told that the church could not pay so much, he offered to sell it to the little church for 57 cents.
Church members made large donations. Checks came from far and wide. Within five years the little girl's gift had increased to $250,000.00--a huge sum for that time (near the turn of the century). Her unselfish love had paid large dividends.
When you are in the city of Philadelphia , look up Temple Baptist Church , with a seating capacity of 3,300. And be sure to visit TempleUniversity, where thousands of students are educated
Have a look, too, at the Good Samaritan Hospital and at a Sunday School building which houses hundreds of beautiful children, built so that no child in the area will ever need to be left outside during Sunday school time.
In one of the rooms of this building may be seen the picture of the sweet face of the little girl whose 57 cents, so sacrificially saved, made such remarkable history. Alongside of it is a portrait of her kind pastor, Dr. Russell H. Conwell, author of the book, 'Acres of Diamonds'.
Amazing what God can do with 57 cents!
This was shared with me by my Aunt!
Beautiful story! Had to pass it on!
